About Me

I created this section to share personal details about my life that would otherwise be missed from just reading my resume.

I would like to let you in on my hobbies, values, and how I've spent my time during quarantine.

Recent Journey in the White Mountains Bouldering Amazing moment to find a tree this large toppled (My Wife Pictured)
Mountaineering - Climbing mountains, witnessing breathtaking views, and experiencing wilderness provides me with an unparalleled feeling of fullfillment. The physical and mental preparation I go through before each climb gives me a great avenue for objectively assessing my strengths and weakness. This hobby connects me with the natural world by allowing me to directly experience the sights, terrain, and weather.

Night Ride through Trailview state park On my bike RFK bridge in the background
Cycling & Mountain Biking - Whether its through the streets of NYC or an off-road trail, cycling has allowed me to explore and learn about my city in an incredibly quick and efficient way. I love that riding requires intense focus, quick decision making, and physical/mental fortitude. I'm currently training to become a long distance rider, with the goal of biking from Astoria to Mauntauk. (BTW: I ride a Santa Cruz 5010 All-Terrain Mountain Bike)

Kayaking through Kennebunk River, Maine Buggy-riding through the Sinai peninsula
Exploring - I enjoy spending time discovering the outdoors. I am always open to new activities and learning about new places. I plan to make a trip with my wife to Madagascar soon, which is her PhD Dissertation field site.

My Dog Bobbi
Animals - Say hello to Bobbi; my 3 year old toy poodle. I have been raising her since she was 4 months old. Maybe one day you can meet her.

Me scared out of my mind 10,000ft up
Pushing myself - Skydiving was NEVER on my list of things to do in life. In fact, I have always been incredibly afraid of heights. However, the summer before my PhD program started, my desire to push my boundaries helped me conquer that fear.
(My face looks terrified, but I had a really good time and plan to go again soon)

Family - These photos are from my wedding - held on July 13, 2019. Family has been one of the most important values throughout my life. Although my wedding was centered around my wife and me, I am incredibly grateful that it brought our two families together.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been one of the most unprecedented and impactful events of my lifetime. Because my family lives in a major outbreak zone (NYC/LI), I found it necessary to move back into my parents house and help them. Using my background as an epidemiologist, I took the role of educating my entire family on safe quarantine practices, the proper use of masks, and translating the scientific news. Being able to use my public health education to directly benefit my family has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. While the pandemic influenced our family financialy-since my father could not run his food-truck business-we are grateful that no deaths have occurred within our family.

The quarantine period gave me an oppurtunity to spend quality time with my family and develop new skills for my professional career. Since I have been continuously studying and working in academia for the last nine years, I am grateful to have used this time to slow down and reflect on myself. Through reading The McKinsey Way, I have developed a strong interest in the quick-paced, team-oriented, problem-solving focused field of consulting.
